16' Petite Brise Plans

The 12’4’’ Petite Brise has proven to be very popular and we have had several requests for a longer version, so we have gone for a hull length of 16’ and increased the beam to 5’9’’. Like her smaller sister, we have widened out the bilge area of the normal Swampscott dory to give her a wide waterline beam which gives her plenty of initial stability linked to the normal high ultimate stability of the dory shape - she is a dinghy/dory. We have also decreased the angle of the transom and also widened the aft end to give plenty of room and buoyancy for an outboard in a well and she has a fore deck area over a buoyancy/storage compartment. She has been given a gunter yawl rig which keeps all the spar lengths down and makes her easy to sail under mizzen and jib alone in heavy weather.
